A magnificent Belle Époque palace built in 1908, the most famous hotel on the Adriatic Riviera and Fellini's lifelong emblem of glamour and unattainable dreams, immortalised in the film Amarcord.
The Grand Hotel Rimini opened in 1908 and immediately established itself as the grandest establishment on the entire Adriatic Riviera. Designed in the Liberty (Italian Art Nouveau) style, the hotel features a monumental white façade, ornate turrets, sweeping terraces and lavish interiors decorated with frescoes, chandeliers, and gilded stucco that have been maintained in their original splendour.
For Federico Fellini, who grew up in Rimini in the 1920s and 1930s, the Grand Hotel was the most potent symbol of glamour, luxury, and the wider world that lay beyond the provincial horizon. He wrote about it repeatedly and immortalised it in Amarcord (1973), where the locals press their faces against the gates of the 'Grand Hotel' and dream of the beautiful guests within. The hotel still operates as a five-star luxury establishment and welcomes visitors for the bar and terrace, allowing you to step inside the building that shaped one of cinema's greatest imaginations.
