About A'DAM Lookout

The A'DAM Lookout is Amsterdam's highest accessible public viewpoint, located on the 20th floor of the ADAM Tower, a striking 22-storey building that was originally the headquarters of Shell Oil's Dutch research division, built in 1971. The tower was transformed in 2016 into a mixed-use cultural complex including a hotel, offices, restaurants, the Shelter nightclub below ground, and the A'DAM Lookout observation deck at the top. The outdoor observation deck at 100 metres above street level offers 360-degree panoramic views across Amsterdam, the IJ waterway, and the surrounding polder landscape. Its most dramatic feature is the swing, an over-the-edge swing ride that extends 100 metres above the ground on the edge of the building, giving riders the sensation of flying over Amsterdam. The deck also features a tilted glass floor section allowing visitors to look straight down the side of the building.
