The Natural Arch (Arco Naturale) of Taormina is a magnificent geological formation carved by millennia of sea erosion in the limestone and volcanic rock cliffs below the town. The arch spans approximately 13 metres and rises about 7 metres above the rock platform, offering through its opening a perfectly framed view of the Ionian Sea and the distant coastline. It is reached by a steep path descending from the upper town, passing through dense Mediterranean vegetation.
