About Guinness Storehouse
Ireland's most visited tourist attraction, a seven-storey interactive experience at the St James's Gate Brewery founded by Arthur Guinness in 1759.
The Guinness Storehouse occupies a converted seven-storey Victorian grain store at the heart of the St James's Gate Brewery, the largest brewery in Europe. The building centres on a soaring atrium shaped like a pint of Guinness, 14 metres across at the base and tapering upward to the famous Gravity Bar at the top, where every visitor receives a complimentary pint of Guinness with a panoramic 360-degree view over Dublin.
The experience tells the story of Arthur Guinness, who in 1759 signed a remarkable 9,000-year lease on the site at an annual rent of £45, one of history's great property deals. From that single Dublin brewery, Guinness grew to become one of the world's best-known brands, its distinctive dark stout exported to over 150 countries.
Visitors discover the four ingredients of Guinness, barley, hops, water and yeast, and learn the art of the perfect Guinness pour, which takes exactly 119.5 seconds. The Storehouse receives over 1.7 million visitors annually, making it consistently Ireland's most visited attraction.
Did you know? Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000-year lease on St James's Gate in 1759 at £45 per year, the lease is technically still valid and has around 8,750 years remaining.
