About CityLife & The Three Towers

Milan's striking modern business district featuring three landmark skyscrapers by Zaha Hadid (twisted), Daniel Libeskind (leaning), and Arata Isozaki (straight), surrounded by one of Europe's largest car-free urban parks.

CityLife is Milan's most ambitious 21st-century urban development, a mixed-use district built on the former site of the Fiera Milano trade fair grounds in the west of the city, featuring three of the most distinctive skyscrapers in Europe. Three of the world's most celebrated architects were commissioned to design a tower each: Zaha Hadid (the Generali Tower, a spiralling 170-metre building completed in 2017, known as "lo Storto", the twisted one); Arata Isozaki (the Allianz Tower, a 202-metre vertical tower completed in 2015, "il Dritto", the straight one); and Daniel Libeskind (the PwC Tower, a curved tower of around 175 metres completed in 2020, "il Curvo", the curved one). Together they form one of the most spectacular architectural ensembles in contemporary Italy, visible from across the city. Between and around them, a vast car-free urban park provides green space for the district and the surrounding city.

Did you know? Zaha Hadid died in March 2016, before the Generali Tower she designed for CityLife was completed in 2017. It is one of her most significant posthumous completions. The building's spiralling form was a radical departure even by Hadid's standards: the floor plates rotate as they rise, creating different orientations and views for residents on every level.
