About Pétrusse Valley Gardens

A romantic valley park beneath the old city walls, gardens, walking paths, and fortification ruins along the Pétrusse river, connecting old and new Luxembourg under the Adolphe Bridge.

The Vallée de la Pétrusse is a linear park running through the deep valley of the Pétrusse river, which flows eastward beneath Luxembourg City's old city walls before joining the Alzette. The valley park provides a green, peaceful, and historically atmospheric alternative route through the city, passing beneath the Adolphe Bridge and among the ruins and remnants of the old fortification works that lined the valley sides. The valley floor is landscaped with gardens, lawns, and tree-lined paths, and contains several small parks and playgrounds. The combination of the high walls and fortification towers above, the arching form of the Adolphe Bridge spanning the valley overhead, and the lush green valley floor below creates one of the most atmospheric urban walks in Luxembourg. The valley connects the Place de la Constitution and the Adolphe Bridge at its eastern end with the western suburbs and the train station area.

Did you know? Walking the full length of the Pétrusse valley from the railway station to the Place de la Constitution gives a continuous experience of Luxembourg's extraordinary split-level geography.
