About Regent's Park

An elegant Royal Park in central London, home to London Zoo, the Open Air Theatre, Queen Mary's Gardens, and stunning Nash terraces.

Regent's Park covers 395 acres of north-central London and is one of the Royal Parks. Originally a hunting ground for Henry VIII, it was designed in the early 19th century by John Nash as part of a grand scheme connecting the park to Carlton House Terrace via the magnificent Regent Street.

The park contains Queen Mary's Gardens, home to over 12,000 roses of 85 varieties, one of the finest rose gardens in the country. London Zoo, the world's oldest scientific zoo, occupies the park's northern section, while the Open Air Theatre stages acclaimed summer productions of Shakespeare.

The park is ringed by Nash's elegant stuccoed terraces, some of the finest Regency architecture in London, giving it a grandeur unmatched by any other London park.
