The Parc del Laberint d'Horta is Barcelona's oldest surviving park, a neoclassical garden created in the late 18th century by the Desvalls family, Marqueses of Llupià and Alfarràs, on their country estate in the then-rural neighbourhood of Horta. The centrepiece is the famous cypress maze, a hedge labyrinth of 750 metres of paths through cypress trees that has been delighting visitors since 1791. The garden also features romantic terraces, canals, waterfalls, a Romantic-period cemetery, pavilions, and statues, all set against the backdrop of the wooded hillside of the Collserola. Today this is one of Barcelona's most tranquil and least-touristed green spaces.
