About Fasano Zoo Safari
One of Italy's largest and most popular zoological parks, combining a traditional zoo with an African safari experience where visitors drive through wildlife enclosures, set in the trulli and olive grove landscape of the Murge.
The Fasano Zoo Safari, officially the Zoosafari di Fasano, is one of the most visited tourist attractions in southern Italy, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors annually to a site that combines a conventional zoological garden with a drive-through safari park. The facility is set in an area of authentic Pugliese countryside near Fasano, with ancient olive trees and scattered trulli providing an incongruous but charming backdrop to the lions, giraffes, and elephants of the safari section. The park is divided into two areas: the zoological garden section with conventional enclosures, bird shows, and reptile houses, and the safari section where visitors drive their own cars through large open enclosures containing African and other wildlife. The safari section is one of the only places in Italy where you can drive within metres of free-ranging lions and other large predators.
Did you know? The Fasano Zoo Safari is one of very few places in Italy where visitors can drive their own car within metres of free-ranging lions, the experience is genuinely unusual by European standards, where most safari parks use purpose-built vehicles.
