About St. George's Chapel
A masterpiece of Perpendicular Gothic architecture and the burial place of eleven monarchs, located within Windsor Castle.
St. George's Chapel is one of the finest examples of Perpendicular Gothic architecture in England. Built between 1475 and 1528, it serves as the spiritual home of the Order of the Garter, the oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain, founded by Edward III in 1348. The chapel is the burial place of eleven monarchs including Henry VIII and Charles I.
Did you know? Henry VIII is buried here alongside Jane Seymour, but his tomb was never finished, the grand Renaissance monument he planned was never completed.
